The fire detour happened to pass the small town of Little Rock within a mile. Among others there was a McDonald’s,so would have a perfect place for a long lunch break to sit out the heat. We left camp early at 6:40 a.m. to get there before the heat would become unbearable. The road [...] This was the first stay at a hotel so far where we did not take a zero day,but returned to the trail on the next day instead. I had set my alarm clock for an early wake up before 6 a.m. to have enough time for shaving,a shower,a relaxed breakfast and packing [...] Bigfoot surprised us with a very early start at 5:45 a.m. today. He could not wait to roll into McDonald’s at Interstate 15 which was still 14 miles away.
